THE bloodbath for Brisbane bookmakers continued at Doomben yesterday with six of the eight favourites lobbing, including the last five on end. It follows similar results in the previous two weeks and the satchel swingers are wondering when relief might come. Rundle ($1.40), Cape Kidnappers ($1.35), Alltherightmoves ($1.90), Saraji ($2.10), Fillydelphia ($1.65) and Carry Me Bluey ($2.40) all lobbed to the cheers of punters, with the only favourites to miss being Sunset Affair (4th) in the two-year-old and Mossriver (2nd) who went down to the well-tried Hidden Kisses ($3.50). "They all look hard to beat and they just don't seem to be getting beaten here at the moment," rails fielder Bruce Myers said. "At this time of year there is normally a lack of depth among the chances, but you normally expect to get a result somewhere along the line, but it just doesn't happen here in Brisbane. It's gone on for an extended period now." Myers said it wouldn't be so bad if other runners were being backed, but in many cases punters were happy to go one out on the favourite. "Once upon a time you could lay the second favourite but the likes of Liesele and Dux Bellorum were unwanted, so you end up just having to keep winding the favourite off," he said.
